The great outdoors...aka the backyard!

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Harris McHaney & Faucette 479-253-3796

If you haven't heard me say it you might be the last person on earth (or at least Active Rain) hearing it. I tell everyone that will listen. I love summer! M. and I have a sort of 'close to home' life. Her business takes up a lot time especially in the summer months. My time is spent on real estate, as in yard work for our properties in addition to working with clients. Since that makes it a challenge to get away while it's warm years ago we decided to put together this little pool scene in the side yard. We have never regretted it even for a minute.

In real estate pools bring out the full spectrum of opinions and debates about value and so on. I say a pool is a great deal. It can be difficult to get a day off and get away, but you can almost always catch a few hours here and there to enjoy the pool in your own yard. We rarely turn on the television between April and October, instead we spend time almost every evening in our yard, either on the deck overlooking acres of woods, great for stargazing, on the covered patio where it's almost always cool, or at the pool.

More and more I see folks looking for great outdoor spaces surrounding their homes. Make an investment in the great outdoors, aka the backyard!

I'd say you and M have the right idea Charles............that's exactly where I would be if I had a pool.  When I visit Tony and Tim in Florida, we spend most of our time in their yard at the pool, at the table in the yard or one of the lovely sitting areas they've the outdoors, especially when it's your own backyard!

Ditto to what Roger says, "That's exactly where I would be if I had a pool." Looks and sounds like you  and your family are living right! The pool picture looks great and I hope you have many enjoyable moments in your pool under the vast sky and beautiful Heavens.

Hi Charles - That looks like a perfect way to spend a few summer hours each day, winding down from all your hard work. We had our deck replaced at the end of last summer, and we're really enjoying being out there a lot now. Breakfast becomes a treat when you can sit outside and enjoy the birdsong along with your cereal...  Enjoy!

Rob, my pool takes on average 15 or 20 minutes a day to maintain.

Roger. Time is the ultimate luxury, you can buy almost everything else...but not time so enjoy it!

Patricia, our nest is mostly empty :-( My daughters are 25 now. They do come over and use the pool and know they can bring friends.

Steve, that's how I feel. Your slice of heaven is magnificent. I'm longing for a drive across the mountains from southern Maine to St Johnsbury, VT like the good old days. Man I might be homesick.

Judy, it is a great place to relax and unlike most pool areas it is shady. We are all fair and having shade has made it much more usable for us.

Joan. Life is good and relaxation is a missing component for many. Stress is the enemy or at least on of the enemies.

Trying to get a pool liner installed for one of my flips. Finding a poolman in the summer is like trying to find a Christian after the rapture.

I am still dreaming and saving for a pool until this our front yard is where I have indulged and my flowers thsi summer are beautiful of course I think having new irrigations makes the difference.  We just talked about expanding our patio and screening in so we can sit out and enjoy without June bugs!

Charles:  I think you've been whispering in my wife's ear!  She's a big fan of the backyard being just "another room" of our home.  She lobbied for a pool in our former home.  We always knew where our boys were (plus all their friends).  But it was money worth spending, both on the pool and food and drinks for growing boys.  Now, we live elsewhere.  But we have a golf course behind us.  A very relaxing and beautiful view, to say the least.  We learned long ago.  W'ere home-bodies.  Work dictates it also, but mostly because we just are.  You put it well.  It's money well-spent if it's what you truly enjoy and brings substance to your lives.  My best to your M ...

Doug, I feel your pain. The pool liner issue is why we built a gunite pool. We will be resurfacing next spring probably but that's only every 10-12 years.

Marilyn, Somehow I just know you have a great yard! You will enjoy having a pool. Pools can make summer entertaining so easy! I worked with some buyers Saturday that are moving because the lot they are on now will not accomodate a pool.

Gene. Listen to your lovely wife she is right on. There is  more that could be done with our place should we win the Lotto, but we enjoy the way we have it too. Yes it was great having the daughters and their friends around while they used the pool and the den.

John, come on over. We would enjoy having you and Mrs Howard for a visit. Just a little planning and it will be great!

Charles, the back yard pool (and BBQ) is a sanctuary in its own right.  So true!   A pool goes to value or saleability;  water and real estate are a great mix!

Brian, ahhh the thrill of the grill. I do indulge. My gas grill is plumbed right into the natural gas for easy grillin' and chillin' on long summer evenings.

Scott, that is the only bad thing I can think of regarding your fair city.

I love Summer and I love my yard.  I think I am a gardener (up for debate).  The only issue with a pool and this is the first home I owned where I didn't have one, is the amount of company and no one owns a towel.

Charles--Looks like a piece of heaven to me.  I have never owned a pool, but there may be one in my future.  Bet your girls have lots of fun memories.  Do your dogs get to swim too?

I can't imagine getting rid of a pool if I had one.  I took some buyers to a home with a gorgeous pool the other day.  They were talking about filling it in.  I couldn't believe it....

Charles- Is there anything like having a pool in a warm weather climate? You got a nice resort in your backyard. We are doing the city thing now, but when we move in a few years, I have to have a pool in Texas.
