As our summer adventure continued through Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota we spent the afternoon in Custer State Park... where the Buffalo are free to roam.

What an imposing sight. Pure muscle. We have a farmer here in our little town that raises Buffalo for it's lean meat. He says they are surly creatures. I think they are amazing to look at
Oh my gosh! How neat is that? I remember looking out the back window of my son's house in Anchorage and seeing a moose -- I had no real idea how big they were until I saw one in person. Amazing gift to see wildlife up close and personal -- and from the safety of your car or home!
I have ALWAYS wanted to go to South Dakota, there are so many cool things to see!

Michael, and these guys taste so great! I had a fabulous buffalo burger last night.
That is amazing and he is just grazing on the side of the road oblivious to anything!
It was quite a site...we sat their in 'awh' of course causing a little bit of a traffic jam in the Black Hills, but it's all good! :)
