San Diego Celebrates July 4th

July 4th, San Diego Big Bay Boom

Fireworks for San Diego Big Bay Boom will be discharged this year from 5 Bay locations. Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Imperial Beach. All to the accompaniment of "Celebrate America" music provided by FM Radio, station 105.7FM

The excitment starts to build throughout the day with picnics and kite flying and it culminates at 9:00 PM with a " fireworks show to beat all fireworks shows".

San Diego county has so many fireworks locations, it doesn't matter if you live in mountains, coastally or in the inland valleys, there should a Fireworks celebration not too far from you.

Thank you William! It helps me to remember just how incredible they can be! No fireworks here this year. It's a good thing too. I wish you could tutor me in how to take photos like this. Only one champion here though and you've got that covered! Great shots and have a wonderful and happy and Independant day!

Hi Deb, what no fireworks? There will be lots of fireworks on line. I will trying again this year to get something a bit more inclusive and not the the light explosion. I have to see if I can accomplish that. I hope to be up high this time looking and out instead of trying to catch them as they go up. :-) It works if my mind, now if it just works on the camera lens, LOL.

Hi jeff, Thanks, I am ready when they are, LOL Well sort of at least. The settings have to be right and so does the remote have to work so it is still a guess as to how they will come out.

Hi Keith, The nice things about Fireworks is that our minds always remember them almost as good as seeing them again.

Hi William, if i had not already said it, want to wish you a happy belated 4th, how did you capture those amazing fireworks shots....camera and settings?  In taking night shots with my little Nikon, you have to switch it to night mode and hold it really still.

Hi Evelyn, Thank you, I wasn't this lucky this year. Seems the ones that came out best were the white ones.

Hi John, I use a tripod, that holds it still, from there it is a lot of luck that you time it right.

Hi John,

I have some opportunities to practice. One of my properties that is in escrow has a 180 degree view of Bay ( and of course Seaworld) and they shoot fireworks off ever night. My client said to come on over anytime you want to practice so I am going to take them up on it. A few times of practice and I might even get good at it, LOL.
