The only thing you should leave on the beach are your footprints

Hello, and welcome to Wrightsville Beach NC -- one of the most beautiful beaches you'll ever find!  We are so glad you're here and we hope to see you again and again.

One of the things that makes Wrightsville Beach NC so enjoyable is how clean it is.  This doesn't happen without your help.  Please, enjoy yourselves and remember this rule; If you brought it with you, you need to take it with you.  Don't leave your trash for others -- there are receptacles at every public beach access; go ahead and use them, we don't mind!  Help keep Wrightsville Beach NC clean so that everyone can enjoy it.

The only thing you should leave on the beach are your footprints . . .

It is a beautiful place and you are correct should be left that way. i have a home at HAmpton Beach in Nh and it is common for 2 scenarios, someone to get up from their blanket and chair and leave fast food wrappers, boxes, cans and anything else they consumed in a heap of trash instead of carrying it off the beach when they leave. The other scenario that happens just as often as cars parking in front of my house, dumping all their trash out of the door before heading back to where thye come from. Th egood thing is there is more good visitors than bad, and even better there are loads of volunteers who clean up after them, all i ask is a little respect.

It is because of a few slobs that we need to have rules in place.  They are usually the sameone that complain a lot.

You hit on one of my pet peeves with this one, BL.  It's not that hard to just pick up what you put down.

Tish, It's a simple concept, clean up after yourself!  It's one of the things that irritates me everytime I see someone does a cigarette butt out of their car.  No ashtrays??

Tish, I think the North Carolina beaches are among the most beautiful in the world.  I love to come to Duck.

The other night, we were watching an old movie, and the two main characters were sitting on a beach having a picnic.  And when they finished eating, they just left their trash and leftovers.  You'd never see that in a movie being made today!

It's amazing that some people really don't care that they're trashing public places like that. I think the only thing you should be leaving behind, besides footprints, are coins and little treasures for those weird people with metal detectors to find!

Tish, and you I'm sure do a great job of covering up for those that leave more than just footprints.  Hope you got to enjoy the beach today.

Tish, I hate finding bottle caps and cigarette butts.  Thanks for the great eco advice.  We all need to be aware of how much we enjoy these public spaces when they are clean.
