There is alot of cities in Alabama that have passed the No Smoking Ban in Restauraunts and Bars. Today on the news I heard that they are trying to pass this law as a Statewide Law for Alabama in February 2008. Alot of people in Alabama are dying due to smoking more than having in other type of cancers. People are not happy with this law, and think that their rights have been taking away from them.  Does any other states have this law and how has it affected the businesses?

In the beginning when they started banning smoking here, it affected businesses and some people were just mad... and then came the taxes on cigarettes ... PHEW!~ Right now they are taking it one city at a time...

Smoking has been against the law in most public buildings in Anchorage, AK since 2001 http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/anchorage/smoking/story/8085222p-7977832c.html

Kim - In Washington State there is a 25' rule. Smoking is not allowed with 25' of any public place. This includes restaurants, bars & taverns. The bars and taverns took a pretty big hit at first, but things have gotten back to normal now. The ban went into effect a couple of years ago. The winners at the time were the Native American Casinos because they do not fall under State jurisdiction. The casinos were very crowded with people happily huffing down their cancer sticks.

Sounds like most states have gone to this. I think Alabama is always the last for everything.
