14 ActiveRain Basics

Here's a great reminder from Mimi Foster on how the Active Rain point system works.  I know it eluded me in the beginning and trying to understand where all of the "point possiblities" were was difficult to wrap my head around.  Here's a simple explanation on where you can find a few extra points!

AR logoWhile many of us know the basics of blogging on ActiveRain, I think there may be a few 'points' that may not be understood.  As a reminder, or for those who may not know, here are fourteen basics:

  • You may sign in to AR each day of the week to receive 100 points per day
  • An ActiveRain week runs from Monday thru Sunday
  • For each post you will receive 200 to 400 [if Featured] points, up to 10 posts per week
  • You receive 4 points each time others comment on your posts, points not to exceed 475 points per post
  • Each blog post must be at least 50 WORDS (200 points)
  • You get 25 points if you add your post to a Channel with a topic
  • You do not receive additional points for being Featured in a GROUP
  • You receive 25 points per comment that you make on others' posts, up to 10 comments per day
  • Your comments on other people's posts must be at least 50 CHARACTERS to receive your 25 points
  • You may re-blog up to 10 posts per week for you to receive 25 points per re-blog
  • You get no points when someone comments on your re-blog
  • The person that you re-blog will also receive 25 points
  • You receive 250 points if someone accepts your ActiveRain invitation
  • You receive 10% of the points that they make as long as they are on ActiveRain

If you do not include counting for comments, or a Featured Post, or any additional points other than the basics, your potential each week is to earn 4,950 points on Active Rain. There are also other ways to earn points (your profile, contests, Staff Bonus points, etc.), but these are the ones that we will most commonly deal with.

looks like AR has placed the motivation correctly.  Points do seem to incentivise participation.

You're welcome David - glad it's helpful!

You're welcome and they're not just motivating, they're down right addictive Mimi!! :)

You got it David - back to the basics!

I feel there's so much to learn Mike that we could spend our days simply researching.  At least I can pick up a lot of tid bits through AR without spending too much time!

Thanks for the posting this again, Rebekah!  I did not know about the 50 character limit for a comment.  I always thought it was 10 words.
