Letting the Mechanic know his Help Was Appreciated . . . Pay it Forward

I recently had to take my car to the service center in town because I noticed a puddle of water on the mat on the passenger side of the car. My thoughts were of a leaky window seal or a broken air conditioner, neither of which would be pleasant.

The mechanics looked at the seal from the outside then pulled the car onto the lift and sent it up. With a piece of wire in hand, he went under the car, looked around for a few minutes, and started to send the wire up. Within seconds he was rewarded with a water dousing.

Evidently something had clogged the discharge hose of the air conditioner, and when he stuck the wire up it freed the hose and he received a little cold water shower.

As I have an account with them, I thought they would send me my bill. When I didn't get the bill, I made a call and asked for it for which my response was just that the time was just an acknowledgment of friendship.

I dropped by the office a couple of days later with a party platter of cold cuts, and some of my wife's home made brownies, shortly before lunch. As I handed them to the owner, I just said, that it was just an acknowledgment of friendship, and left.

Ed-fabulous idea and even better an honest mechanic that didn't gouge you for a service call that was an easy solution.

That is great, Ed.  I'm sure the guys appreciated it very much.  It's nice when companies get to know you well enough to treat you the way they did, and it was reciprocated nicely.  Good job!

Ed- what a great way to let him know that you appreciated his services! How often do we walk into the mechanic empty handed and come out that way (minus a bill)!? My little jewel is costing me several hundred each time I take her into the shop now!

Ellie, simple acts of courtesy or in this case good will go a long way to lifting the spirits. Thanks for stopping

Cindy, it's not easy tp find a mechanic that will discuss the needs and give you options. Or in this case just take 5 minutes of their time and recognize an appreciative customer.

Mike customer service in any business is the best way to build a business

Margie, I've been using this place for over 17 years and they are just good people.

Barbara, good morning and thanks as well.

Judy, obviously it's something they've seen before and it didn't take very long to cure the problem

Cindy, something fresh baked is always appreciated more than something bought.

How wonderful of both you and the Auto shop in paying it forward like you both did!  Just goes to prove, there really are good Real Estate Agents and Auto Repair shops!  Ha ha ha, how often do you think anyone would write a sentence like that one?  ;-).

At least it isn't like the old cars and when you found water on the floor it meant the heater core was going out and you were looking at a large bill since the dash board had to be taken out to replace it.
