"Sleepless in the Suburbs"....... No more!

Beginning October 12th at 12:01 a.m., the train engineers passing by Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Prairie View and Buffalo Grove will be prohibited to blow their blaring train horns.

According to the residents who live near the train lines, the engineers seemed to enjoy blowing the horns the loudest and the longest in the middle of the night.  With the combined efforts of Buffalo Grove, and the surrounding suburbs, and the persistent efforts of Buffalo Grove Village manager Bill Brimm, the Federal Railroad Administration has approved the local application of the quiet zone corridor.
This important change will not only effect the sleep deprived residents, but will increase the real estate value of certain subdivisions located adjacent to the train line.  One resident of the Waterbury development in Buffalo Grove was so excited that she wrote the village a thank-you letter for all of their efforts.  This week she's pleased to announce  that her daughter is well rested and won't need her Dominick's daily naps.
