An exciting July 4th game between the St Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds
We were invited to watch the Cards beat Cincinnati yesterday. It was a fitting July 4th celebration for us. We sat just a few rows behind the home plate, the temperature was not too warm, there was a small breeze, and we were in the shade.
Take me out to the ball game!
I'm not much of a baseball fan but I can sit through the nine innings if need be. I like the action of a football game better than baseball's no score inning after inning. Well yesterday was like that, seven innings of nothing scored. Though I must admit being close to home plate was so much better than sitting up in the nose bleed section. While there was nothing going on, we enjoyed brats, nachos with no jalapenos thank you, and the guys enjoyed beer.
The Millennium Hotel St. Louis reflected on Greensfelder Building
What else do you do? I observed, and took some pictures of course. In the sea of red, it's hard to tell the fans from the red seats. The whole game, fans repeatedly tried to get the wave going with no success until the seventh inning where everybody got their act together to complete the wave across the stadium. I should have taken a video, but didn't think fast enough... the nachos had to be held away from the white shirt I was wearing, but ended up on my hubby's shirt. (LOL)
Two rainbows and the St. Louis Arch
At the end of the seventh inning, in what must have been a good omen for the Cards, a rainbow appeared - a couple in fact. After the Reds failed to score in the top of the eighth, the Cards finally scored a run with two outs, and the stadium exploded. Cincinnati couldn't answer in an almost anticlimactic top of the 9th, and we started for the gates after a short 2.5 hour game.
