Wordless Wednesday...On Wobbly Legs

Over this past weekend, we spotted this little spotted fawn crossing the road. It was around noon and mom was nowhere in sight. Sure hope he makes it where he is going.

John, just saw one the other day, they are so cute... however not when they eat my flowers.... Amazing that those wobbly legs actually work, isn't it?

Hi Randy - Always fun watching the little ones. I can't remember seeing deer twins, but once I did see a cow moose with twins...safely from a distance!

I saw one yesterday too and blogged about it too!  (Great minds think alike).

I guess this is the time of year for birthing. So glad you were able to see her (him?) and I'm sure Mom was just out of sight.

Toni - I hope so too! I'm surprised she wasn't in sight with this little one. There are a whole lot of life skills they need to learn...including "if you need to cross the road, look both ways and do it quickly." We stopped the car to take the photos, and don't you know, the next car went around us. Too busy to pause for and appreciate nature.

So sweet!  I would have loved to have seen it.  I see them often in the Fall and Winter and not much this time of year, and hardly ever this young.

How cute.  John, we have a newbie in our family as well.  My grandson Logan was born 2 weeks ago, only his mom is always by his side.

Sharon - This little one spent about two minutes trying to cross the road. That's a long time. We were probably a couple of hundred feet from this one. Gotta love zoom on a camera.

Rene - I'm sure you must have lots of these little guys out your way. Awkward and graceful at the same time.

Kenneth - Congratulations on the new addition to your family! You must be thrilled. Hope they live nearby so you get to spend plenty of time with him.

Robert - Exactly! Last Fall my Chris and I took a three day tour of western Massachusetts where I went to college. Had a ball, but on the second day we realized we did not have a camera. Had to stop at Walmart and buy one, despite having three others at home. A new digital camera...maybe $150. Preserve a memory...priceless.

John,

The deer is my favorite animal. If I could protect them all, I would. Poor little guy, I hope he knows where he's going and gets there safely. He looks awfully young and wobbly too.

Hi Dawn - Sure hope so too. The good thing is that they grow very quickly, but they still need Mom to learn life skills for the next six months. Have a great weekend!
