Hoping for a change in the market?

By

There is a lot of press and public discussion about the real estate market.  Many folks are delaying a buying decision on hopes that there will be a change in the market that will make it easier and/or more financially beneficial to buy.

We have been promised change by so many in so many areas of our lives that we should know by now that it's probably not going to happen.  Politicians have been promising change for as long as I can remember.  How do you think those promises are coming along?  Most advertising promises that the particular product will change your life, even a stupid vacuum cleaner will change your life.  I don't think so.

Now the housing market exists post-crash and that was the correction for an artificial spike in prices.  The housing market and prices are not depressed, they are back to normal.  This is it, and there are no dramatic changes waiting to occur in the next few years.  It's time to stop waiting for change that is not going to happen and get on with our lives.

If you are a home buyer you either want to live in the home or you're an investor who wants to rent it or flip it.  It's easy enough for an investor to calculate the value of a home to him/her, and they are finding value and buying now.  Investors are not waiting for change because they understand that there is none of significance on the road ahead.

If you want to live in the home, you are either homeless (serving a landlord), or you have a home that does not satisfy your wants and needs.   Either way, waiting for the mythical better days will get you nothing but older.  Beyond the horizon is more of the same, another horizon and a little closer to the end of the road.

If you have the resources, don't be confused by the inaction of the people who do not have the means to buy a new home.  They would if they could, and you would if you could decide.  It's time to put it in gear and get on with the lifestyle you and your family deserve.  Call me for help if you want it.

Good post.  Smart home buyers are taking advantage of the attractive prices and the very low mortgage interest rates.  It is a time of great opportunity!

 Blooming for you!

More opinions than you want to hear about.

Thank you for the comments.  The housing market is important for our economy in general, a major driver of jobs and unemployment levels.  It is important to people considering investing in the stock of home builders and suppliers of building materials.  It is almost irrelevant to people who are trying to decide whether to buy a home.
