Forbes Survey Confirms Denver is a Great Place for Business and Careers

Denver, ColoradoMost of us who live here already know about and appreciate the many benefits of living and working in Denver, Colorado. But a recent survey of the "Best Places for Business & Careers" by Forbes magazine helped spread the news to the rest of the world. The magazine recommended that those looking for opportunity should "Go West, young man," Indiana newspaper writer John Soule's 1851 advice, which would later be popularized by Horace Greeley and serve as the mantra to head west, particularly to Colorado, which landed two cities in the listing's Top 10.

The survey looked at the 200 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. and considered 12 metrics related to job growth (past and projected), costs (business and living), income growth, educational attainment and projected economic growth. They also factored in quality of life issues like crime rates, cultural and recreational opportunities and net migration patterns. Finally they included the number of highly ranked colleges in the area.

These are all factors in which our great cities shine. Denver ranks number nine. Our economy grew 3.9% last year and is expected to grow 3.9% annually through 2013 according to Economy.com. Denver's great quality of life and educated workforce make it a favorite with companies in industries from aerospace and bioscience to energy, financial services and information technology. They also pointed out Denver's central location which makes it a natural location as a distribution hub. Quality of life factors included the many nationally recognized museums, bustling neighborhoods, and generally sunny weather.

Ft. Collins came in at number five on the list. Major industries highlighted included clean energy, agri-tech and bio-science. Being the home to Colorado State University, it attracts many companies which relocate here to take advantage of the college's resources and research facilities.

If you're thinking about moving west to find great business and career opportunities, Denver could be the perfect location for you. Talk to the Bandy Team today about your lifestyle preferences and we'll help find a Denver home to suit your individual needs.
