Denver MiniBarCamp

By
Real Estate Agent with Novella Real Estate

For the past few years I have been organizing the Denver BarCamp.  This year we tried something new and began meeting once a month.  We found the annual event to be a lot of fun, but having access to each other more frequently has been even better.

Tomorrow, Friday, July 8, 2011(9 a.m. - 11 a.m.) we will have our July MiniBar at the Denver Board of Realtors. 4300E. Warren Avenue, Denver, CO  303-756-0553

The main topic will feature how to use Prezi, a very cool presentation. Prezi can be viewed on your iPad or online.

So many real estate agents are presenting for listings and buyers on their touch screen devices.  Prezi is very unique in that it scrolls, spins and moves differently than a Power Point.  The format alone is so interesting, presenting in this way is powerful and brings along the "WOW" effect we all aim for in business.

Our group welcomes new members.  We also talk about what we are currently working on, our challenges and any topics that come to mind.

If you are a member of MeetUp.com you can RSVP there, or join (it's free).  Either way please come, we would love to include you in the group.

RE/MAX Best The MiniBar is promoted via MeetUp.com  and when I remember the Denver Board posts an email notice.  I also post a notice on Facebook.

Hope this answers your question.

When we promote the large REBC I do a lot more to market it.  The MiniBar has a smaller following.  It's becoming more of a mastermind group.

Have you attended a REBC?

What a great idea to do the MiniBarCamp. In some ways it makes more sense to have a series of these rather than 1 BarCamp or so per year. Have you found it to eb alot of work to organize, find presenters, etc?

I haven't looked much at Prezi but it sounds like it's something I should spend more time with.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks, I agree with you!  It is so much better to have MiniBars frequently than once a year.  No I don't have trouble finding speakers.  Sometimes we just sit around and talk about things.  We have a small group of very sharing competitors.  It's actually very cool!

The local board is very supportive of the group.  For that I am grateful.  If I can't attend, there is always someone else who can.

Wish you lived closer!  You'd be a great resource!

We've done several REBarCamps here in the Seattle area, with great success and attendance. But we're thinking of changing it up a bit the next time around. We're thinking of having several smaller events throughout the State, and opening it up to other businesses besides real estate....so it would be a BizCamp.

Rich, I think doing a REBC type event for the community would be a big hit.  There are so many small businesses that could benefit from the experience.  Opening it up to a larger portion of the population makes good sense.

Let me know how it goes.

I like the idea of mini bar camps and involving the community would be great too.  Would love to get something like this off the ground in LA/Pasadena area.

Can't wait to check out Prezi.  Thanks for sharing Kristal. :)
