Colorado Real Estate Expert: Tom Hoffman with Top Priority Realty, LLC

Where are you from?

I am a one of the few Colorado natives, I was born in Burlington, CO, graduated from Englewood High School, and Colorado State University.

How long have you been in the Real Estate business and where did you get your start?

I actually started in the mortgage industry with WestAmerica Mortgage before I became a Colorado Realtor in 1993. I started Top Priority Realty in 1997 with Metro Broker and became completely independent in 2001.

What are your long term goals in life and business?

Be the absolute best Grandpa for my Granddaughter Taylor. I would like to eventually turn over Top Priority Realty over to the next generation.

Is there a particular area of Real Estate that you enjoy focusing on more than others?

I work the BFB program (Bargains for Buyers). I have sold many HUD homes in Colorado and other real estate owned (bank owned homes) to first time home buyers and investors.

What is your favorite hobby outside of work?

Playing solitaire and watching the Rockies

What is your craziest “Real Estate” related story?

St Joseph. When I first became a Realtor in Colorado, I had a listing in Bennett, CO. It wasn’t getting much activity and I had heard a story of wrapping a statue of St. Joseph in cellophane and burying him on the property. With St. Joseph’s help it would sell. I thought there must be some validity to the story as statues of St. Joseph were sold at the local Colorado Realtor store. So I bought a statue, wrapped him up, and buried him on the corner of the property. After a couple days I had a change of heart and thought the whole idea was silly. When I went back to the home in Bennett, CO I could not find the St. Joseph statue. He was GONE. The house did sell a few weeks later.
