Luxury Real Estat Marketing: Is it Chanel No. 5 or Ylang -Ylang?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Our client's garden in Ocean Reef has many lovely trees.  One of them is referred to as the Chanel #5 tree.  The tree pictured above is Ylang-ylang, aka cananga odorata.  The oil derived from its flowers is used in the making of Chanel No 5.

According to the French Government, a bottle of Chanel No, 5 is sold every 30 seconds.  This was the first perfume launched by Coco Chanel.  Some experts consider it, the world's most famous perfume.

We stood under the Ylang-ylang tree and inhaled its fragrance, it was great, and upon returning home, i saw one growing in the corner of our neighbors yard, so now I have an endless supply of Chanel No.5.  LOL,

Happy Saturday, Cheers Ron & Alexandra

I'm a Chanel No. 5 fan, actually I'm a Coco Chanel fan--she was an orphan (mother died and father abandoned her) yet she went on to build one of the most famous and successful fashion houses in the world.

I'm inspired by successful women and Coco is at the top of my list.  With a dab of No. 5 behind my ears and my Chanel purse strapped across my body I walk out the door each morning knowing anything is possible if we have confidence in our ability and the drive to accomplish our goals.

Another interesting little tid bit that I had no prior knowledge of!  I am highly sensitive to perfumes, so I avoid them...no idea what Chanel smells like!

Alexandra, nice to have an endless supply of Chanell #5...I have a bottle and is still 3/4 full. A little bit goes a long ways.

A,

I am so fascinated by your story about this great perfume Chanel No. 5 and the Ylang -Ylang tree. I didn't know such a plant or tree existed and I'm fascinated with it's roots. That's a tidbit I never would have guessed and now I want to shop for Chanel No. 5 or visit the nursery to see if the tree will grow here in Texas.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful post!

Like Patricia, I'm going to see if I can get a Ylang-Ylang tree going in my garden. I'm wild about fragrant plants and so are the butterflies and hummingbirds that come to visit.

Gordon,

I love the fragrance of the plant...like Chanel No. 5, prefer another perfume (not bought every 30 seconds), it is the maverick in me. A

Toni,

Get yourself the plant, it come in bush size and will thrive in your garden. Pefume making is an art, and I don't know if my nose is qualified for it.  LOL A

Norma,

My maternal grandmother worked with Coco Chanel. She was a finish seamstress for her.  Glad you are inspired by her story and her products. A

Sharon,

Next time you are in a health foof store, they usually have Ylang-ylang oil that you can take a whiff off.  I am allergice to too much perfume...LOL

Rebecca,

You are so right about a little goes a long way.  I have a bottle of perfume my mother bought me for my birthday 7 years ago and it is half full.  A

Patricia,

Check with a nursery, I am not sure.  The plant is native to the Philippines and Indonesia.  You are welcome, I love learning new things like this. A

Dave,

Me too, when we move, I am buying one for the new house, unless it has one.  I love butterflies and hummingbirds and fragrance,  There is nothing like it, one the grandest luxuries. A

Alexandra, I am sure the tree is very fragrant, but if is like Chanel #5 it would really affect my allergies.  It was interesting to find out where the oil for the perfume comes from!

I love the "idea" and "brand" of Chanel No. 5... but never liked the way it mixed with my chemistry.  Because of the "brand"... I have tried it many times.  Wonder if I would get along with the tree?  K

Tony,

Sorry to hear about your allergies.  I would assume that there are other ingredients beside ylang-ylang in the perfume.  The tree smell is reminiscent of jasmine and custard if you can picture that.  A

Kathy,

I don't like it on me either.  I used to like Chanel No 19.  The tree is wonderful, I am sure you would get along with the tree just fine, LOL A
