Part 5 of a 4 Part Series :)

By
Home Stager with Rooms With Style

Yes....That's What I Said. This is Part 5 in my 4 Part Series on "Home Staging is More Than De-Cluttering and Moving Furniture".

So don't tell me I can't count, I know, I know!

I first told you that this would be a four part series featuring one home and suggestions I made in each room. I wasn't going to include the bedroom as....ah, boring. I wasn't going to include the kitchen because that had been a separate post.

But then I thought, why not highlight the Master Bedroom even if the suggestion was basic; and why not show the kitchen again for those that missed it since it is all the same house.

So, the bedroom.

Bedroom Before

My suggestion: buy some simple luxurious bedding and make this room feel like the best Five Star Boutique Hotel you have ever been in. Think escape, retreat, a sanctuary from the kids and life.

The homeowner decided at the last minute to have me bring in furnishings from my warehouse since I was doing other rooms. This wouldn't have been needed as there was nothing wrong with her furniture. But she wanted to get settled in her new home.

I also suggested paint for the room and it definitely added warmth.

When staging a bedroom the bedding should be neutral but it doesn't have to be boring. It can be fun and have some pizazz.

Throw pillows, large lamps to frame the bed....you get the idea.

 Bedroom After

Bedroom before and after

So now for the kitchen. In my post: "Are Your Kitchen Cabinets Dated But You Don't Have Thousands of Dollars for New?" I highlighted the kitchen in this home. You can link back and read the entire post but I wanted to recap it here so you can see the entire house with all the suggestions I made, here is the kitchen.

 Kitchen

I suggested painting the cabinets and purchasing stainless steel appliances. What a difference!! The counter tops look like new and the modern "dark on bottom light on top" cabinet mixture looked great.

Miss any of the series? Here is what you missed:

Part 1: The Family Room

Part 2: The Living Room

Part 3: The Dining Room

Part 4: The Porch

You are just too sweet Tammy. If I ever made it on that show I would get in front of the camera and freeze or stutter! LOL. I love your confidence in me though, thank you so much.

Thank you Craig. A whole new concept....5 parts in a 4 parter!

Exactly Lori, you can only make the suggestions, you can't force them to do anything. Some don't have the motivation like this seller did and some don't have the funds. Then you do the best you can.

Thanks Margaret. I love looking at before and after pictures too!

Ha, great analogy Kathy! Funny.

Karen, Show AND Tell are always best. :)

Thanks Kathy. And you are so right that they are the most important rooms. I always tell clients that if it is being your house and another house it will come down to the kitchen and Master Bedroom!

Yes, we never have time to do our own homes Melissa and then sometimes it is more difficult because we have so many ideas and we can't narrow it down. Plus we always see our own homes differently and sometimes need a critical eye.

Would you believe I am a CPA Sally! But I still always use a calculator! LOL. Thanks so much for your kind words.

Funny what a little black will do in a room to make everything pop David.

I remember that Janice! Very good taste you have. LOL

Oh I like that title Ellen!! Shar The Great.....do I get a crown? :)

Isn't the polka dot bedding cute Kristine? The color is neutral but the tone on tone circles make it so fun! Thank you....

Thank you so much Laura...much appreciated.

While your new bedroom is definitely an improvement, even just a coat of paint and new bedding in the  old room would have done wonders...and different lamps...and some art...

Shar, I really enjoyed this series of posts. Isn't it amazing how a coat of paint and the new bedding with some accessories can make the room look so sophisticated! I love two color cabinets in the kitchen. Who came to this idea first you or Candice Olson? LOL

The homeowner's furniture would have been just fine Julie with some new bedding, new paint of course. She elected to move her bed to her new home to make it easier.

AHAHAH....Anna. Me or Candice?? Well since she copied the fabric I picked out for my porch for her Mom's porch I don't know. If her next show has two toned painted cabinets then we'll know for sure. LOL

Too funny Donna. Good eyes you two.

Shar--ooh, that master bedroom is so amazing.  Who wouldn't walk in that room and not want that?  Nice update on the kitchen too with the new appliances and the painted upper cabinets.

Both the upper and lowers are painted Janet so they have a cohesive look rather than one stained and one painted. Thanks so much!

Preparing your property for sale

HI Shar, You have shown so clearly here that besides cleaning a home thoroughly, paint is the best investment a seller can make when listing a home for sale. It really creates ambiance in a room allowing you to pull the entire look together. Selecting the right paint colour is a skill that you bring to each job getting great results every time.
