Are you searching for a home to buy in the San Fernando or Santa Clarita Valley? Are you a first time home buyer? If you answered yes to either one of those questions, then this important announcement may be for you.
The Southland Regional Association of Realtors, Inc., (SRAR) in partnership with the California Association of Realtors Housing Affordability Fund, is currently offering $4,000 grants to first-time home buyers who purchase a bank owned property (REO) or short sale property, or one of the rehabbed properties through the Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services' Neighborhood Stabilization program.
There are limited number of grants. Grants will be awarded to qualified applicants based on availability of funds and according to individual applicant need, as determined by the reviewing committee. You must use a realtor who is a member of the Southland Regional Association of Realtors. Buyers must be advised that simply submitting an application does not guarantee an awarded grant.
I provided the information to my client, who is buying a short sale and she was thrilled about the possibility of receiving $4,000 sometime after closing. I DID say sometime after closing. It may take 30 days or longer to receive the funds once your application is approved. You must read the qualifications carefully. The property must be in the jurisdiction of SRAR. For a flyer and application outlining ALL of the requirements, please call 818 428-7879 or email me.
(As of 8/12/2011, First-Time 2011 Home Buyer Grants are no longer available. According to the Southland Regional Association of Realtors, which I'm a member, all the grants have been given out. For more information go to http://www.srar.com and read under the Community Section.)
