During the month of May 2011 Yahoo Real Estate reclaimed first place by capturing 6.51 percent of traffic in this category while slightly beating out Realtor.com who had 6.46 percent of traffic. Yahoo had fallen into second place. The data was accumulated by Experian Hitwise. As many of you know, Realtor.com is owned by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and many of us who are Active Rain members are also members of this group. After seeing this search information all of us who are NAR members should check Realtor.com to see if our profiles are updated. I just updated mine as some of the information was incorrect.
The remaining top web sites were : 3) Zillow 4) Truila 5) MSN Real Estate 6) HGTV’s Front Door 7) Rent.com 8) Homes.com 9) AOL.com 10) Zip Realty.
I for one did not expect some of these sites to make the top 10 list. As an action item You and I now know that we probably have several sites where I need to register with and we need do this as soon as possible or risk falling further behind our competitors.
The top 10 search terms also have great interest to me and should to all of you who are reading this blog. The search terms list is as follows:
1) realtor.com
2) zillow
3) truila,
4) realtor
5) zillow.com
6) remax, 7) century 21, 8) coldwell banker, 9) homes for sale 10) homes for rent.
Notice Zillow and Truila are in the top 10 for both web sites and search terms. Those of us who do not work for one of the Brokers listed need to incorporate terms such as “realtor”, “homes for sale” and “homes for rent” into our blogging.
I now have a much longer to do list after reviewing the above results. I suggest even if you registered on some or all of these sites you should check to make sure your profiles and other data is correct. I hope all of you find this information useful.
