Hurricane Season Be Ready

Here in Southeast Florida, Broward and Dade Counties
It's time to dig through our boxes of Flashlights, Batteries, Candles and Matches again.
If we haven't gotten our Water and non-perishables
we need to go ahead and make that trip to the Grocery Store
and stock it up in the Garage or Laundry Room/Pantry to have it ready.
One area of being prepared you need to stay on top of is the Hurricane Shutters.
If you have bought a new home recently here in South Florida, especially a foreclosure
that has been vacant for quite some time,
You need to make sure all your shutters fit.
The Year Wilma was approaching, My Family and I were outside finishing putting up all out Hurricane shutters.
We noticed the older couple next door that had just purchased their home five months before, were struggling putting their Hurricane Shutters up. This was their first time getting their shutters out and figuring out which shutter fit what window.
We went over and helped them, as well as a few other neighbors before we were done.
My point is, if you've just recently purchased, check those shutters out now while the sun is still shining
and we're not under any kind of threat.

Terri- good information for everyone out there.  So often people will purchase a home and know they have hurricane shutters but then not check them out before a hurricane comes.  Let's hope we have a quiet season!.

thanks for an interesting post...good advice. I have a condo in Sunny Isles Beach...and you reminded me about the season....i forget for im up in Chicago most of the time./..and we're going thru some rough tornado like symptoms....high winds  (80 mi),,,,POWER LINES DOWN...trees falling..and it seems to be getting worse each season......ill be down in Florida this fall....so your post has great merit for me....

i also noticed you mentioned "inventory is low".....and you have buyers waiting for move in properties......interesting for our inventory is high...and we're lower with qualified buyers..other than investors with private money......interesting comparison....perhaps a creative theme for next blog. you orchestrate regarding your local market trends...and ill orchestrate similiar here for windy city recent trends.

best wishes.....  Mike (IN CHICAGO)

LOL Mike, yes, inventory is low here. Although, there are foreclosures not on the market yet. So, there's a shift coming.

GOOD MORNING TERRI! What a nice "things they don't tell you when you buy a home in a new area" post! It's always the little things like this that make all the difference to a new homeowner - and having a nice neighbor like you to help!
