Water, Water Everywhere... So Please Make Sure You're Drinking Plenty of it!

Weather Map

You don't have to consult a map to know it's hot out there... in fact South Florida is cooler than some of our neighbors to the north.

Temps have been in the high 90's with heat indexes that are in the 100's.

You'd like to stay inside and work on your Blog here at ActiveRain or trying to figure out this new Google+, but... oh yes.. there's that pesky day job.

Realtors and Home Inspectors, cannot avoid being outside, even if part of that time might be spent in the car.

But all of us, whether we're working or spending time at home, you need to be drinking plenty of water and be aware of the signs of dehydration.

And, yes, while Coffee is a liquid, caffeine can actually cause you to lose fluids.  As mom always told us, it's important to get in your 8 glasses a day!  Take note of the warning signs of dehydration, and be especially mindful of them in young children and the elderly.

Note these signs of dehydration-

1. Nausea or vomitingGlass of Water
2. Dry mouth
3. Muscle cramps
4. Lightheadedness

It's also been said that a good indicator of dehydration is the color of your urine- if it's dark yellow or amber... you're already dehydrated.

Remember- Drink lots of water
Be aware of the signs of dehydration
Keep an eye out for the elderly and young children.

I was very dizzy yesterday...I foolishly thought that drinking Diet Pepsi  was the same as drinking water - silly me!

Sharon- Oh.... you made my day!  My husband bought a book a few years ago just on the topic of water.  It is a chore to remember to drink the water... but think how good your skin will look!

Julia- Oh.. if you start to feel dizzy, then you do need to stop and take some fluids, and they say not ice cold if you're truly dehydrated, either. Glad you're ok.

Kathy -- I don't know how you tolerate that heat!  However, drinking plenty of water is really important.

Russel- I actually found my "surprise" when I went to your post to read it!  Many thanks!

Steve- I never leave home without water... and when we walk every morning.. it's an absolute must.

Maureen- Lots of water!!! It is hot but wha makes it really unbearable sometimes is that if there is no breeze... the little gnats are out in abundance!

Gary- you brought up a good point.. even if you're thirsty you need to drink water.

Tom-I see that a lot of places are getting some rain... finally.

Lottie- I see you work with seniors and they are very much at risk for not getting enough fluids.

Hi Kathy,

As a Real Estate Agent, I know we are like a bird, flying all over the city and county not taking time to eat something, let alone time to drink water.  It's a great reminder to all of us, especially now that the temps are going to stay high for the next month.  Let's drink to that...here's to ya.... Russel Ray sent me to your blog, I'm suggesting it and reblogging.....
