The Buck Starts Here

The Buck Starts Here.

Addison, Texas Pacesetters visited the Federal Bureau of Engraving in Fort Worth last week and we got to watch money being made.  Their Buck Starts Hereslogan is "the buck starts here" and it also starts in a facility in the Washington D.C. area. These are the only two places where the U.S. currency is printed.

Security is tight, and no cameras or cell phones are allowed in the building, so I can't show you pictures of the inside of the facility.

In addition to the tour, there is a 2-level museum and a gift shop.  The facility is huge and the tour guides are very knowledgeable.  It's definitely worth the trip from the Dallas side of the Metroplex and it's kid-friendly.  Plan on spending several hours there if you want to see everything (except the mysterious big blue vault).

If you are an Addison, Texas resident in the 50+ age range, stop by the Addison Athletic Center and get on the email list for the Pacesetter activities.  From high teas and lunches to game nights and overnight trips, there's always something on the calendar for Addison Pacesetters.

Don't live in Addison? Call me and I'll find you your Addison home!

My girls love a trip to the Federal Bureau of Engraving here in DC. We will have to add that to our annual Dallas trip to see if they are similar.

Good morning Lorrie. Sounds like you enjoyed your time at the mint. Great tag line, borrowed and you got my attention. I hope you have a great day.

Sounds like a fun visit.  Were they giving out any samples?

Laura: They told us that the building here is larger than the one in D.C.  You're landlocked there and this is out in the middle of nowhere (no offense Fort Worthians).

Sheila:  It *is* a great tag line, isn't it?

Richard: No free samples, but you could buy bags of shredded bills with errors that didn't pass quality control.  They jokingly referred to it as their "trash."
