I Went to a Show Last Night and I Didn't Walk Out!

In a post this weekend I told about a particular movie I had attended with my husband that was disgusting and we walked out.

Well last night was not the case for us. We attended the Broadway Production of "9 to 5" at The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, MN and it was terrific.

 The Ordway Center

It was 1979, the time of shoulder pads, afros, Donna Summer, Farrah Fawcett, Micheal Jackson, Pet Rocks, and the movie staring Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.

9 to 5

The Broadway Production of this movie was hysterical, the voices were amazing and the actress playing Dolly nailed her perfectly. Most of the actors had received Tony awards or been nominated for them.

9 to 5 at The Ordway

Dolly showed up too....well not live but in a taped version of her overlooking the stage in the beginning and end. It was so funny!

So.....let's just say this show was much better and we didn't have to walk out!

So com'on.....join in everyone! "Working 9 to 5......"

Happy post and I like happy posts. Your site looks really nice. Love the design and flow. Nice work. We have live theatre here in Redding and we should make a point of going. I am inspired. Thank you!

Shar-I really enjoyed the movie 9 to 5 so I imagine this would have been really fun. Dolly is a hoot. Glad you had a good time.

Shar, glad you had a great night out and saw such a great show. Last week, my sister called me at 6:30 pm and said could I meet her right away to get to the city in time for a 8:00PM Broadway Show? We rushed 30 minutes apart to meet up and a 50min drive, to see that the tickets someone gave her were 4th row to Mama Mia! It was great.

Shar, there's nothing like live theater! Supporting local actors is the best thing you can do for yourself and them! Soooo glad you enjoyed it and you stayed!

Jeanean, yes...get out and go. It is so fun! Thanks so much.

That is one of the biggest perks of being in a large metro are Elizabeth. No doubt.

Hey Susan, I thought someone should join me since it has been in my head since last night. LOL

Aren't they great Kathy. Yes, the Ordway is one of the best in the country.

You should attend Lennar! Goes through Sunday!!

Dolly is a hoot Sharon and the gal playing her had the accent, the high voice, the 8" heels and the......well, maybe not that big. :)

Oh how fun Ellen! Definitely worth the effort. We have had season tickets at the Ordway for over 20 years so we have 5th row seats. I loved the Broadway production of Mama Mia when it was here. Sure the scenery isn't as great as the movie but they could all sing!

Definitely worth staying for this time Peg!

There really is nothing like live theatre.  Such memories looking at the original actesses.  Thankfully lots has changed in business since then.

We don't get to the theater very often.  Heck, we don't even get to the movie theater very often!  Glad you had fun out of the town!  :-)

Shar - I loved that movie!  No matter what kind of day you had at the office, that movie was sure to bring a laugh.  I'm glad you enjoyed the theatre version as well.

We had a blast Donna. Thanks. We get to the theater more than the movies which is a good thing given the last movie I saw (and walked out of).

The theater version was great Tammy. But of course the original with Dolly could never be topped.

Hi Shar - I remember how much fun that movie was when it first came out. It's great that the show is so good, too. Your performing arts center is gorgeous!

That movie is a hoot Janice...it had been so long since I'd seen it the Broadway version brought it all back.

The Ordway is stunning Judy. I remember when that movie came out too. It was kind of shocking in a way to confront male chauvinism.
