Hot Days in Texas are Really Cool!

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Some people like to talk and complain about the hot summer days. Happy kids growing up in Texas, who may not have the best of everything, just make the best of everything around them and they know how to have fun while staying cool. We can all learn a lot from children.

The Shops of Highland Village with water shooting out of the sidewalk is a Great way to Cool Off!

The Dallas Galleria Shopping Mall offers Ice Skating year round. Here kids learn that you can keep going long after you think you can't. When hot people are dripping wet from the heat, these kids are in their summer clothes having fun on the ice! Children are GREAT role models!

Kids come in all sizes. Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, what you've learned, and what you're willing to teach others. Kids learn a lot from the people they look up to.

Children live what they learn by watching others and having the courage to try it themselves

These kids stay cool under colorful golf umbrellas. Some are reading books, others are coloring while they are waiting outdoors in temperatures that reached 103 today (heat index 110) for their favorite movies to start. Kids in Texas use their time wisely and most of them know how to stay out of trouble. Good best friends takes responsibility for their actions and they positively influence each other. Adults can learn a lot about joy by observing happy children. Here in Texas, they are truly a joy!

Kids in Texas are happy kids. They find simple pleasures and they make good use of their time, even when the temperatures are scorching hot. Some people use beach towels and umbrellas on the beach, these kids use them while waiting for a cool movie to start!

Gary,

It's been interesting. The Shops at Highland Village has proved to be more successful than Parker Square. It's good to see kids enjoy themselves, despite the weather.

Hope you're staying cool.

Patricia,

Kids can find a way to stay cool anywhere, anytime, because they aren't embarrassed. I remember opening up the fire hydrants in the Bronx on days like we've been having.

Judith,

I'm glad you said that. It's a full moon tonight, the moon is very bright! I'm thinking about hopping in my car and jumping in that fountain before I go to bed tonight. I'm not sure if I'll do it, but I am tempted!

A few years ago I went skinny dipping in the lake on New Year's Eve - shhhh!!!! Don't tell anybody!

Hi Sharon,

You're right! kids defintely have the right idea! They don't need as much as we think. They can think of creative ways to just have fun. Try to forget about the weather and just have fun!

Eric,

Something tells me, you're still a kid at heart in a big man's body. If so, don't ever grow up! Hopefully, your girlfriend will grow to love you more because of it.

What you said made me laugh! It's soooooooooooooooo true!

William,

Life should be lived without regrets. I think it would be fun, if more people stopped acting like old fuddy duddy's and started to just lighten up and enjoy life. Maybe the Staff at AR should consider finding us a deal on a cruise ship for one of the upcoming RainCamps. Wouldn't that be fun!

Rich,

We did the same thing in Chicago! Actually, the Firemen started opening up the Fire Hydrants, and boy was that a lot of fun!

Then when I lived in Lake Villa, Illinois my husband was a Paramedic, the Rescue Station had water fights using the fire hoses. It's was the Rescue People (and wives) versus the Firemen (and their spouses). It was tons of fun and boy did I get soaked!

Those were the days!!!

Patricia, kids are more tolerable to heat than adults. I love it that they bring their umbrellas and beach towels and wait for the movie to open.

Hi Rebecca,

Isn't that a cool thing to do? I don't think I would have thought of beach towels and umbrellas to a movie theater. They are pretty sharp, aren't they?

When I was a kid, going to the movies was a big deal for the teenage girls to hang out in the ladies room putting on make-up and hairspray. I'm sure glad those days are gone!

I think you're right, kids are a lot more tolerant about the heat. Maybe it's because they REALLY appreciate having time off from school. I remember being so grateful for summer vacations when I was a kid. We played outside all the time and way past the midnight hour (just like I'm about to now)!

Looks like the kids are having a great time, Patricia. Kids know how to enjoy the simple things; we lose that as we grow up and need more complicated (expensive) entertainment :)

Rob,

An ice-skating rink is a good place to cool off in summer and or to warm up in winter! Kids in the North Dallas area are are lucky to have an ice-skating rink at the Dallas Galleria, right inside the mall!

Have a nice day!

Toni,

We should never lose that sense of wonder! Entertainment should be fun and it doesn't have to cost a penny!

If you seek it, it will come!
