This table was made by a friend of mine who is one of the smartest people I know. I trust his calculations and the values he shows in the table.

* Per actual County Tax Assessor valuation for my example home
Numbers are not exact are but are close enough to get an appreciation of the magnitude and direction of home value changes.
Although it may seem that my example home value 'only' dropped in value to about 60% of what it was in 2006, in 'real world' (gold) purchasing power it is actually now valued at about 20-22% (gold) / 14% (silver) of what it was in January, 2006. Use YOUR data and check out www.zillow.com or other reliable measure for your home value changes over the past several years. Plug those values in and calculate your home value in terms of ounces of both gold and silver. You'll see how much you've lost in REAL purchasing value. Similarly, check out the values of your pension plans or other savings' such as IRA's.
Dems/progressives (aided by or not effectively opposed by elected GOP members?) have used a wrecking ball on America's former jobs and economy, as well as achieved worsening outcomes in education, increased shattered families, hastened the rate of decline in a declining culture, and inaugurated mandated border insecurity. You can name additional measures but this illustrates an approach that is quantitative, 'apolitical', and easily understood. Select your own measures of effectiveness.
