BuyLocalChallenge_LogoWhat's the Challenge?  It's simple click the "Take the Challenge" Link below and agree with the following: "I pledge to eat at least one thing from a local farm every day during Buy Local Week!" (July 23-31, 2011).  I urge you to joint me and inspire this initiative at your work place.  It's healthy and safe, better for our environment, supports the local farmers and helps strengthen our economy and simply put, fresh food just tastes better.  Visit any one of the links below for more information - all of which can be found here: http://buy-local-challenge.com/index.asp

I couldn't agree more Ralph.  It's so smart on so many levels.  Many people don't realize what is in our food these days... From pesticides to hormones, steroids and ecoli.  The initiative is worthy without that health concern being the case; it just makes it that much more important to act upon.

I've been buying local every week at our local farmer's market.  The Timonium Farmer's Market is comprised only of local farmers from Baltimore County.  I started as soon as the market opened in June and my family has been saying how much better the produce tastes.  Last night we had crab pasta salad (local crabs), corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers all from Albright Farms in Phoenix, MD.  It was very yummy.

This is a very nice challenge Steve. I did it but I didn't "buy" local. I ate fresh vegetables and fruits from my own garden every day.
