A friend posted on Facebook that July is National Ice Cream month, now it wasn't that I didn't believe her, but I just had to check it out for myself. Here is what I found when I did my search on google:
"Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984.[1] He also appointed the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day. Reagan recognized the popularity of ice cream in the United States (90% of the nation's population consumes ice cream) and stated that these two events should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
I think one of my favorite childhood memories, was the annual family summertime get together, and sitting for what seemed like hours, taking turns at the ice cream churn, turning that handle time and time again, until finally we had ice cream.
So, in honor of our 40th President, I have made some banana ice cream today. I know my friends will enjoy it when I share this week. What is your favorite ice cream?
