Portland Weather . . . Checking on the Weather in Portland

Today is Sunday, July 17, 2011.  Portland weather is hovering around 60°F and raining.

I KNOW!!  While the rest of the Nation is SWELTERING and the weather in Portland has us putting on raincoats!!!

The weather reports for Portland says "light" rain, and I'm not really sure who's actually reporting the Portland weather -- it's been bordering MONSOON  rain for the past couple of hours.

Because of the weather in Portland I may not be able to bar-b-cue my shish-kabobs that have been marinating in teriyaki sauce overnight.  Something about grilling in a downpour . . . oh heck, it might be fun?!?

Typically, the Portland weather has July as one of the dryest months, with temperatures at 80°F and perciptation less then 70/100 of an inch -- today the weather in Portland is off by an "average" 20 degrees.

As the old saying goes: "Everybody talks about the weather . . . but nobody does anything about it."

With Portland weather, I wish we had summer already. I can't do much about it . . . it feels like slightly warmer version of a Portland Fall . . . or Spring.

Yesterday the high was 84, today 87.  Tomorrow it will be sweltering again.  Today it was not so bad.  I just hope we'll have a mild winter...

Hey Carla, I LOVE the rain. But of course I live in dry Mesa, AZ. If I lived in rainy Washington I would probably long for the dry sunny weather here in AZ.  The grass is always greener right...lol

I am so crazy as we continue in the triple digits with very little rain.  I need to come and visit you in Seattle.  My sister lives in Issaquah.  We were up there during Christmas.  So gorgeous there.

Carla, the shish ka bobs are already marinated...I think you're just going to have to cowgirl up and BBQ in the Rain! P.S. It's in the 90's in Kansas City and humid as a terarium.

Hi Tammy . . . and with the humidity factor, a real summer for you.  It feels like fall to me . . . aghhh!!

Hey Ed & Barbara -- I live in Oregon, close to Washington state -- but we're getting the same weather, so all things are relative.

Hi Catherine . . . it's good sleeping weather at night, but GEEZ I'm so ready for summer!!  CRAZY is right!

Hi Paula -- I know I'd be belly aching with triple digits that go on for days and days, but rain in summer, and the cool temps is a bit much!  (You can't visit me in Seattle . . . but you're always welcome to visit me in Portland!!  ;0)

Hey Maria . . . LOL!! I cowgirl up and do the kaboobs!!  I like the humid weather, it's good for my skin . . . Let's all switch places for a week!!

Carla, I'm on vacation in Newfoundland, in the North Atlantic. Our high temperature today was in the mid 60's and overcast. Not exactly my preferred summer weather. Tomorrow is supposed to get into the 70's. Then rain for 3 or 4 days.

Don't worry, it ain't that hot here either.  We have had a wild and wooly year with lots of rain.  Rain is gone, but we are below normal temperature wise.

Be thankful for the temperate weather.  For me, I'd take the right now in a heartbeat.  Tired of heat and humidity.

Hi Clark . . . LOL!!

Hey Chris Ann -- I'm thankful, but would have liked a little summer with my seasons this year ;-)

Hi Michelle . . . the weather percentages are funny.  Actually, (and not trying to sound like a smart ass) the percentages mean that there will be rain, in 30% of the forecast area.  When they say 10% chance of rain, it's not a 90% chance it won't rain.  The forecasters are saying it will rain, but only 10% of the area will have rain fall, 90% won't get wet.  In my case, they said "light" showers . . . it was a monsoon yesterday!

Carla ... Wow .. thats sounds awesome!    I will be in Gearhart in a few weeks and I am not even going to take one pair of shorts!   It has been around 100 here, in The Woodlands/Houston, everday plus heavy, heavy humidity!   I am taking long sleeve shirts, sweaters and jeans ... that is winter weather!!!!!!!!!  :)

Can't wait to sleep with the window open ... no bugs, no humidity!

I can't wait to get some fresh Oregon produce .. that is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing in the whole world like wild Oregon Blackberries!    We are going to pull the car over and I will make all my kids go out in the stickers to get those fabulous berries .. yummmm

Hi Pippa . . . Gearheat is lovely!!  Nice you're visiting here, and I hope you take pictures and post!!  Yes, the Blackberries should be ready for plucking.  I looked for some yesterday, matter of fact, and didn't see any, they may be about a month out, but don't be disappointed.  Thanks for your comments.  Have FUN!!
