This is my first experience with a Active Rain blog - so bear with me as I am fast becoming a blogging fool - I have one on my web site - san-diego-coastal-homes.com but am happy to become part of the Active Rain Family which in these challenging real estate times makes us an even tigher family.
Day after day we are faced with world issues that truthfully break all our hearts. I keep playing that darn Lotto just knowing that the Lotto God will look favorably on me as I would ACTUALLY be one that does some good with part of the money. After the home remodel of course. I feel for all the worlds hunger, poverty, disease and sadness but I truly believe that its time that we look at our own country and realize how much good we can do right here and how much it is needed. Charity starts at home - right?
I was a dedicated volunteer with Fresh Start Surgical Gifts a foundation started here in San Diego where doctors help children with deformaties. A great organization which sadly changed in the last few years leaving me the hole in my heart that the work offered wide open to get involved with another worthy cause.
I tried working for abused women and found that the organizations hide so incredibly well from the "abusers" that I couldn't find the right person to talk to or call me back. One organization I tried to donate clothing to told me they only needed larger sizes...and trust me I am not that small! I don't want my extent oc charity work to be putting canned foods in a box at a local coffee shop - I NEED direction!
If anyone in San Diego can help it would be greatly appreciated. My background aside from Real Estate is Advertising, Marketing, P.R.- I have no problem being hands on - counseling, cooking, whatever it takes - I just want to give back as no matter how tough our housing market is many of us are still very lucky to be healthy and able to donate some time. I love San Diego and would love to help locally!!
Contact me at ggelet@cox.net if someone has a cause they love working with and can use some new energy!
