Real Estate Agent

I just read the new Realtors Magazine and their annual report on franchises. a few years ago my business partner and I were looking to move our team and we were analising if we should move to another company, open our own or buy a franchise.

We have always referred to our team as a the TREE, we moved from our original company to another one because we needed a bigger pot to let our tree grow, then in 2007 the pot was getting too small and the franchise overhead too low to let our tree grow, so we decided to start our own company so the tree will have more room to grow.

It is interesting to see that most franchises are downsizing, one company loss half o its offices, and only one company grew in the past 12 months. I know the market is tough, and agents are dropping. It makes me think that we made the best decission and stay independant small brokerage.

I understand the importance of the well stablished national brand, but at the end my clients and the agents who know me do business with me because of me not my brand.

The tree that we call Central Realty is growing, we keep increasing agents and business. and soon it will get new branches.

Good morning Jose,

This big franchises are losing ground due to the technology now available to agents.

Apply what you learned under a franchise but go independent and have control of where you spend, where you don't.

I gotta be honest with you Jose.  A franchise is not the way to go these days for obvious reasons.  However, your logo and name, I think, are great.  I like what you did with them.

I've worked under a big franchise and also for locally owned offices. There is an advantage both least in our small, extremely rural area. One franchise is king, and gets a lot of business because of name recognition. But there are people that like to deal with the small independent offices as well, and seem to seek them out. We have a lot of tourists that go through this area and then want to see what they can buy. This is where the franchise usually gets the business. The company I work for has been around for years...we are established and a lot of locals seek us out. The company's reputation stands on it's own.

Getting results w/ knowledge & know-how!

"My clients & agents do business with me, because of me, not my brand"... EXCELLENT POINT, Jose!!! Real estate is a locally driven market...  I'm sure that the "argument" to franchise or not could go on forever but it seems that a company that is committed to professional standards of practice & utilizes technology for vast marketing has the ingredients to succeed. Best wishes to you for much success. And for what it's worth, I like the logo!!

Jose - I use to work for a big franchised brokerage and as it started closing down some of it's offices I decided to move to an independent small brokerage and couldn't be happier.
