Commentary
Fixed mortgage interest rates held steady last week remaining virtually unchanged from the previous week.
Economic indicators remain healthy as the financial markets continue to stabilize. Employment reports show near full employment and fewer layoffs, Retail Sales reported stronger than forecast, "core" inflation measures are currently manageable, however "headline" inflation, skewed by rising oil prices may be cause for real concern.
The Fed and the markets are still unsure as to whether the full effects of the late summer financial markets crisis is over.
The immediate forecast for mortgage interest rates is that we may see some additional mild upward pressure.
