Hot, Hot, Hot in Canton MA

SunIt's summertime & it is getting hot here in Canton MA this week.  Temps on Friday are supposed to be close to and perhaps even reaching 100.  I am not complaining!  I vowed during the horrible winter we had that I would not complain about the heat this summer.

But, if you don't have central air conditioning or your own backyard pool then you will need a place to cool off.  Luckily there is a great town pool in Canton where residents can cool off!  Situated next to Bolivar Pond and surrounded by trees and woods on one side, it is a pretty setting.  If you get tired of hanging out in the pool, you can sit on the benches on the hill that overlook the pool & get a nice view.

Located on Bolivar Street, the town pool is open to Canton residents for $3.00 per person.  Or, a better deal is to head over to the Recreation Department to buy your pool passes.  For $50.00, you can get passes for your entire family that will gain you entry to the pool for the entire season.  With slides in the deep end and a separate kiddie pool for the little ones in addition to the regular pool, there is a lot to enjoy.  Lifeguards are on duty for safety.

The pool is open for public swim every day from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  In the morning, the pool is home to practice for the Canton Dolphins Swim Team, who practice there between 8:00 am and 10:00 am every weekday morning.  The Dolphins also hold their home swim meets at the town pool.  The pool is also home to Red Cross Swimming Lessons through the Canton Recreation Department.

Stay cool Canton - and don't forget the sunscreen!

Christine, the year we move from Seattle and they don't have a summer! All my relatives are complaining about rainy 60+ degree weather and I am baking in 100 degree heat.. Can't we split the difference across the country!? Sheesh.. Stay cool Christine!

Hi Christine,

Yes it is hot...here in Bristol, RI as well.  But I'm not complaining either....as I rather have the hot sun then the cold snow anyday!!!  I have central air in my home as well as a pool...I have the best of both worlds.

I'll take the heat over cold any day but this week has been tough on a lot of folks, especially those without air conditioning and pets as well. Hopefully it will cool off a little bit.

Marco...it is great exercise.  My kids are on the swim team & swim for an hour each morning!

Tammy...I heard about Seattle.  I'd rather have the heat than have no summer!

John...while we could probably use some rain too, at least one day in the past two weeks we've had an evening thunderstorm or rain to provide some relief.

Lori....I also have central air & a pool so am very lucky.  I bet in Bristol you're pretty near the beach too.

Dan & Amy....I will also take the heat too (of course, as stated above I have central air & a pool so that's easy for me to say!).  It won't stay that hot for long around here.

Valerie...it was so hot today that my kids hung out in the shady end of our pool.  They said it was too hot in the sun, even in the water.  Of course, the pool water was up around 90 so it was not so cool either!
