And You Thought Short Sale Agents Had it Bad? Try Curing Cancer.
I've been listing and selling Northern Virignia Short Sales since 2007. When I first started, I thought there could be no greater punishment than having to deal with a Short Sale Bank or a Short Sale Negotiator. The whole process of getting a bank to review a Short Sale Contract and come to a decision was filled with the runaround. They'd lose papers, so you'd have to fax them 10 times over. One person would contradict another in what had been or had not been done on the file. It was maddening.
Since the beginnings of Short Sales in the Northern Virginia real estate market, things have come a long way. Negotiators are generally friendly, speedy and helpful in getting the process done so much faster than the early days. Occasionally you run into a bank like Navy Federal Credit Union where part of the training must be developing a snide attitude with real estate agents, but for the most part, Short Sales have become nearly easier than regular sales.
My husband, James, is a software engineer. He is working with a four man company that does Bioinformatix consulting. They have been contracted to help develop software for genetic research by one of the leading cancer research hospitals and doctors in the industry. The hospital is located in the U.S. My husband is THE engineer on this project. The owner of the company is involved, but not to the extent of my husband when it comes to the development of this tool.
Over the weekend, James was stewing about a "situation" with the project. I've faced some rough days in my job, so I asked him what was going on. Apparently the project has been halted due to a System Administrator with a Lord of the Rings complex. What do I mean? YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! That's what I mean. While the doctor leading the research has submitted for the software being developed for his project to see what genetic markers are present in certain types of cancer, Lord of the Rings has decided that the request for the software upload is being denied based on......wait for it......A MISSPELLED WORD IN THE REQUEST DOCUMENT. Yes, his boss spelled disseminate wrong and now all hell is breaking lose.
As I type this, he's on a conference call where his boss is being subjected to an interrogation the likes of which may not happen at Guantanamo Bay. Furthermore, my husband being the forefront on the development project, but not a PhD or owner of the consulting company, is being DISALLOWED from speaking during this conference call. That's helpful.
So much for curing cancer.
