Will Google+ replace ActiveRain?

Reblogger Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

Maureen this is a great post & great question for members at Activerain and or anyone that reads AR posts/ blogs.

I have been with AR since 1-1-2008 and there have been other networks that have emerged like YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Linkedin, Google +, etc. Some of these networks may have been around before AR, don't care!

I have 3 Wordpress site, 3 of my own personal websites, 2 Facebook accounts, 2 YouTube accounts, 2 Twitter accounts, 2 at Google, and a Linkedin account.

I have used them all for years and right now there is no other network around like (Activerain), I have so many Associates & Friends at AR, the business & exposure that comes from AR is ...

"PRICELESS"

PS - My Associates & Friends gave me the name Vegas Bob (VB) over 2 years ago, I would have never been given this name at Google +

You've been hearing a lot about what Google+ will replace

Facebook or Google+

Twitter or Google+

I saw this on Google+ yesterday.

Will Google+ replace ActiveRain?

 Erik Goldhar ActiveRain Google+

Erik is an AR member,  a vendor.  Not very active....

I reshared the question on Google+ and got a couple of comments from Fred Carver and Wayne Harriman.

My comment was "probably not." What do you think? Is it the main blogging platform? Aren't there lots of people now who blogged on AR who are on their own blog on WP.org or somewhere else now...

My point is, is ActiveRain bigger than all the individual real estate agents blogs across the US and Canada?  How would you even measure that?  Google+ seems to me to be a great place to share content.  Not necessarily the place I want to create content...

Maureen McCabe about ActiveRain and Google+

I know if you don't know or care about Google+ or Facebook or Twitter but love ActiveRain you may be concerned Google+ could replace ActiveRain.

Twitter did not replace ActiveRain...  Facebook did not replace ActiveRain.  Why would Google+ replace ActiveRain?

Give me your email address if you'd like a Google+ invite.  Don't worry it is not going to snuff out ActiveRain... I don't think it will anyway...  I actually think Google+ could make ActiveRain stronger...  but what do I know?

A great question, Bob. But, ActiveRain is so unique and personal, I doubt that Google+ will replace it.

Mmn, that's an interesting perspective Vegas Bob. Thanks for the reblog - I'm playing around with Google+ and like it, but I expect it's just one of many places to have some visibility.

Hello Toni and Google + may grab members attention, etc but in the long run AR will stand it's ground and being the number one RE network in the world!

Thanks for the Re-Blog.  I like Google+ way more than Facebook but I do not see it as Nirvana....  I think if AR implodes it will be internal not external.

Hello Maureen and you are very welcome, (Facebook) is by far one of my least places to expose myself! I have been playing around with Google + and it's A-OK!

So far that I've seen, Google + is supposed to replace Facebook, our normal blogs, Active Rain, cable television, satellite radio and also provide a cure for the common cold.

I think we're expecting and worrying way too much about this.

Love Google+, but really , it can't be said enough, There's no place like Active Rain!  I do have to say, however, Google+ is better than FB because you don't necessarily have to have a FanPage AND a personal page.  Everything can be done through the circles and it's awesome!

Hello Toni, I really don't think google+ or facebook intended to ever replace active rain ... They are completely different platforms of networking, I am sure that AR is already working on new technology for us ... ;-)

Wow, that's a lot of accts/a lot to manage!

I agree w/ your perspective.  AR is different, not to mention that it is real estate specific while all the others are general.  there is no comparing them.  And, further, as Maureen has mentioned, they can be synergistic.

Hey VB:) what a great thought provoking post that you re-blogged. I can not see Google+ replacing AR, maybe FB and that would not be so bad:))

Hi Vegas Bob - ActiveRain is a different type of platform than Twitter, Google+, Facebook, other social networks and blogging sites.  It won't be replaced.  The others are a complement to ActiveRain.

Howdy and evening to you Vegas Bob

VB,
anything can very well end up being replaced. Has for folks going with Google+, is really going to depend on if AR is able to get and keep the AR site running reliability for the members for more than a week or month at a time.

I have not as of yet really got to take a real look at Google+ yet, I'm still on their waiting list.

Don't take more comment the wrong way, I do like the AR site. But I do know that the AR site is losing a lot members for many different reasons, reliability has been the number one reason lately.

Have a good one

VB, I like the format here, and that I get to choose my "groups" and with who I want to interact with....  by picking a post. Comments  to my posts/blog are fun, educational, and entertaining. Sometimes, a great debate will get going....... you just gotta respect everyone's right to their opinion whether you agree or not! I'm going to check out G+ and see what all the "buzz" is about. I like learning new "thngs"!

Hello Dale and we have both had this discussion through out the AR network and in ways I do agree with you. But I think the strong shall survive and I will be one of those at AR.

And Teri thanks so much for the comment, I like AR and we all know there have been swings. There are with any networks and these are just growing pains.

I have yet to get over to Google+ but my hands are very full with business, etc.
