The Avenue shopping center in Murfreesboro has officially opened, meaning that we've got some really great shopping to compete with the traditional middle Tennessee shopping districts (ie, Brentwood and Green Hills) right here in our own back yard!
The Murfreesboro Post notes the following grand opening events still to come:
Saturday, October 20 Grand Opening Celebration 11am - 4pm

Additional entertainment will be on site including store promotions, giveaways and more!

What does this mean for Rutherford County Real Estate? Good things!
The stores in The Avenue are likely to attract home buyers who otherwise would've felt like they needed to live in Williamson County in order to be close to great upscale shopping and restaurants. The merchant mix at The Avenue competes well with the Mount Juliet Providence shopping center, which include: Target, JCPenney, Belk, Kroger, TJ Maxx/Home Goods, Consolidated Theatres' Providence Cinemas, Best Buy, Ross, PetsMart, Old Navy, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, Staples, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Books-A-Million. Many of the merchants at Providence (JCPenney, Ross, PetsMart, and Staples) are duplicated at nearby Smyrna's new Colonial shopping center.
