A DocuSign of the Times...

Because the Times They Are A Changin'

Q. What do the 8-Track player, rotary dial phones, fax machines, and running all around town trying to catch up with clients to sign documents all have in common?

A. All these things are either now obsolete or are soon to be.The Times They Are a Changin'!

And, if you ask me, the last two in this list can't come soon enough for me.

Now don't get me wrong, all these things served us well in their time.

But, my friends, the times they are a changin'.

I have been using a digital signature program that, much like DocuSign is safe, secure, and was instrumental in keeping a recent closing of mine from being delayed... or quite possibly not happening at all.

I'll spare you all the boring details. But suffice it to say that the offer was written, accepted and sent to the closing attorney all from the office of a new home construction site using a laptop and an electronic signature application.

The problem arose when the buyers were hundreds of miles away and one additional addendum was needed just a few days before the closing.

Fortunately, and within minutes of being notified, I was able to generate the form and highlight where initials and signatures needed to go.

They were able to sign, initial and date everything in record time!

Total time elapsed: Less than 30 minutes! And, it would have been even sooner if my clients weren't driving down the highway when I called them.

Could this have ever happened as quickly using "yesterday's" technology?

I think not!

What's the moral of the story? It's really quite simple folks.

The money you're about to spend on new toner for your fax machine, and the money and time you'll be spending on gas trying to chase down your clients for signatures, is much better spent on a service like DocuSign (or some other electronic signature program).

Because remember, the times they are a changin' and this story is a DocuSign of the Times that are rapidly approaching.

Love, love, love this post Craig!  This is a very creative way to describe Docusign.  I need to get on board with this.  I had a tablet pc that my clients would sign and that made it easy...but it was kind of messy.  So looks like I will be switching up :)!  Terrific post and worthy of a win in the contest...of cours it almost isn't fair to others that you participated :)!

Craig - Very creative the way you introduced the old in with the new. Get with the technology people.

I have used Docusign one time but did not feel the need to pay monthly something I rarely used. Now we can use Digital Ink for free from my Winforms. I tried a few times and it was not real receptive on the clients end.

So I will look into docusign again.

Waht do you mean rotary dial phones are gone????????? and I don't need an 8 track tape because I have one better, a car mounted record player, but the records are getting hard to find. As for taking the real estate transaction to the next level, we're all over that as it does make life simpler.

There has been a LOT of posts on this subject today. It may be time to take a look.

Something took the place of the 8 Track player ? When did this happen ?

Enjoy the day Mr. Dylan

Craig - I couldn't agree more.  I use Suredocs for my mortgage paperwork.  My clients love it because they sign ontheir desktop and can save a copy on their computer.  No need to print!  It also is a great redundant record keeper.  Suredocs keep all of my documents for 5 years.

But I like to chase all over town using my gas and time to chase down clients.  They don't always like it when I do this, but it's a great excuse to pay $5.00 for a fancy coffee!  Iced preferably these days.

Craig, I haven't seen any of the other posts, but you definitely have my vote.  There might be a bit of a learning curve with all the new technology, but wow what a time saver they have become.  Great post.

Wanda - Thanks Wanda. The competition's fierce on this one. But I'm giving it a shot nonetheless.

Brenda - Ha! Ha! Ha! (Your check's in the mail!!!)

Anita - Electronic signing has saved me a great deal of time over the past two years. I'm on board!

Deb - Thank you Deb. I've been working on my clever this year! Glad to see it's paying off!

Amy - Do it Amy! You won't regret it. As long as your clients are comfortable with it, it's a great time saver.

Michael - Nah. It'll never catch on. That tune is just blowin' in the wind!

Ken - Look into it Ken. You will NOT regret the convenience and time savings of electronic signings.

Ed - I don't know Ed. That keorsene powered in dash record player wasn't the most efficient piece of technology you had in your car when you drove me to the loony bin the other day!

Don - I hear they're coming out with a round wheel too Don! You better look into that too!

Nevin - Cutting edge guy that you are, I know you've adopted the electronic signing long ago and you've been very successful with it.

Denise - I'm a huge fan of Dylan, so in my eyes he can do no wrong! I'm surviving the heat. Hope you are too! But man it's hot out there!

Debra - Well as a card carrying member of the "rotary club" I can forgive you!

Laura - Iced coffee it is with the weather we've been having lately!

Nick - Thanks Nick. The learning curve was really quite small. Even I picked it up in relatively short time!

Endre - Soon enough my friend. The banks will realize that this is the way of the future... and the future is now!
