What Should We Believe???

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Boise Idaho SP20114

I read an AP article in the Idaho Press Tribune yesterday....

It was only a couple of paragraphs....

(surprising as they like to sensationalize this type of news...)

The article's headline stated

"Home Sales on Pace to be Worst in 14 years"

Don't know about you....and your market....

we know Real Estate is Local....

and maybe we won't sell as many homes this year....

But I do know that personally I am busy...

Busier than I have been in recent years....

Why?

Because I haven't bought into the hype...

I knew I had to make a certain amount of money this year....

or I was out of the business..

So I hustled....bustled...got some help

and I focused on selling houses in Nampa IDaho....

Guess what.....

It worked....

At our office we have been taking the newspapers headlines and creating some pieces that say

This is how it should read.....

What should the above article have said???

Now is the Time to Buy.....not as much Competition in Getting YOUR Offer Accepted!!!

Another one we had fun with...

"It is a better time to Rent now with House Prices what they Are"

We changed it to:

"Investors....now Is the Time to Buy....More Folks Are Needing Rentals"

So think about it...

Focus on what is good....

Maybe you need an Eye Exam to do this.....

But Real Estate is what you believe it to be.....

If you think it sucks....it probably will...

If you think that it is good....then it probably is!!!

It is a Great Time To Buy a Home In Nampa Idaho....

And I know a Great Realtor!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Deborah, you are so right? I mean the last 2 listings I put up I got full price in 30 days,  Granted some are still sitting but that's my point.  The market is so diverse it really gets down to the neighborhood!  I love the idea of re-stating the news titles!

Here's a novel idea... do your own research, come up with your own index. I'm not talking about the worthless numbers from nar. Leave the competition in the dust. Yes, it takes some effort and yes it takes some reading and thought. If anything, when you read an article with junk economics or junk stats as a basis for a housing prediction, you can call BS. And...maybe,just maybe, you might learn something new.

I see folks on this site say..."I refuse to or I won't look at negative news..." That's tantamount to standing in the middle of the freeway with your back to the traffic.

The point is, you can't just show up to a listing appointment with a cma and a smile any longer. Instead of bitching about the "lowball offer" on your listing, having better numbers may reveal that offer is the true value of the property.

Great advice...positive attitude will get you much further in life than negative will!  I love how you rewrite the headlines..that's wonderful!  I suggested, and think this type of positive reinforcement is something we all need to practice more often!

Deborah....I never pay any attention to the media....it's so hard to stay positive if you do. I say it will always be what we personally make it.
Hope you have a great weekend! ---Rob

What a great way to view life! I think it is awesome that you physically took newspaper articles and built your own positive headlines- the visual reference of your positivity works wonders :)

Cathy....my company came up with that concept and I love it....it is all in your perception isn't it???

Mike...great suggestions.....we can skew the numbers how we want to....the media does don't they??

THanks for the suggest Sharon...we really aren't in a bad market....is it 2005?   nope...but in some price ranges we are in a very balanced market!

Rob....we do have to stay positive for sure!!!

David and Bonnie!!  It was my team leaders idea and I think it is a great one to rewrite the headlines!!!  LOL

Let's face it. Bad news sells! If we would turn off the news and NOT watch it, they MIGHT find something good to tell us. But I doubt that will ever happen. Evidently we like DRAMA and bad news. Look at all the reality TV shows and CSI death shows. Clearly we like it.
