Can't Beat the Heat?

Real Estate Agent with RI Real Estate Services ~ 401-529-7849~ RI Waterfront Real Estate

Can't thermometer - North Kingstown RI stylethe Heat?  Living and working by the RI waterfront just did not bring me any relief yesterday or today at this point.  I understand that we broke all high temperature records on Friday and today will not be too different.  There just is not any weather cold front to move in to the area yet.  Air conditioning is a blessing if you have it, fans just do not do the trick, the mind does not think clearly and the poor animals need hydration do not forget.

Olive the Persian Cat My son's girlfriend had to have her Persian cat shaved not only because of the heat but long hair matting problems (gee, i wonder if that would solve a bad hair day for me?) and Olive seems to be very content right now.

Besides being in air conditioning the only better place to be is the beach if you canNarragansett Bay - North Kingstown RI find a blanket spot or be on the ocean...or Narragansett Bay sailing and enjoying this weather that we, as Rhode Islanders, will sorely miss in less than five months.  It is a countdown to winter don't you know.  Today we just can't beat the heat!

At 7 pm last night the thermometer was reading a mere 94 degrees down from the 100+ degrees reported in parts of the state.  No we are not RI babies, just not use to this weather at all...come on now this is not Texas remember!   Can't Beat the Heat?

Hi Ginny,

My wife and I were on a motorcycle road trip during our heat wave.

We had to remind ourselves how we had longed for the sun for 9 months of winter and rain!!

I keep clippings of mountains and snow (I'm an avid snow-skier) posted everywhere to help me with "thinking cool" during these (overly) hot summer months. [DISCLAIMER: It only helps mentally, not physically.]

Ginny: It was really steaming up here on Friday too and they are telling us the today will almost be the same. All we could do is head for the beach today and remember those who serve in the military that are always in the HEAT over there. I must say that I like it more than the snow for sure. Have a great day!!!

I spent all day yesterday lounging around (indoors).  Had family over last night and it was still 90+ when the mosquitos finally drove us inside at 8:45.  Today will be red hot here again.

Ginny, As the old saying goes, when it is hot we need to slow down a step, drink plenty of fluids, take rest breaks, and make sure your pets have plenty of water and a cool place to lay down. And best of all....get your surf board out and go to the beach!!!

Ginny, yesterday we hit 105 degrees even in the shade. In Sicily (most summers we are there) it gets hotter than that! Thats why we are glad our house is in the mountains, and learn to siesta in the afternoon with all the shudders closed. If not, off to the beach we go too!

My family has had cats all our lives, long haired and short haired. I don’t agree with shaving a cat. Cat fur is very insulative and helps prevent the cat from getting too hot or too cold. Exposed skin for which the cat was not designed by Mother and Father Nature can cause other problems. Also, a simple daily brushing will solve the hair matting problem.

bliz, it is the effort that counts...

Jim, i hear your concern but i know it's an inside cat & the matting just got too much so they should daily brush...i have a maine coon that's very long hair & have to do that...i know the cat hair is growing back & i'll remind them about ma nature for sure...thanks
