Suicide
My son’s 20 year old girlfriend attempted suicide in his bathroom this past Tuesday night.
They life flighted her to the hospital and by Wednesday they said that they were keeping her alive by life support until her family could arrive from out of town.
Thursday morning they stopped the life support and she died.
My son found her.
He will forever have that image of her hanging there, almost lifeless.
Most likely, he will always think that there was something that he could have done to prevent it.
I gently reminded him that the only one who can comfort him is God, and he answered me sobbing...
“Then why isn’t He comforting me?”
Sometimes we are so caught up in our grief, situation, fear, whatever it may be -- that we cannot see God anywhere around. We have ALL done this. That’s exactly where Satan wants us to be.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
You see... once you are a child of God. NOTHING can separate you from him. EVEN when we make the wrong decisions - even when we turn to the world - God will be there waiting for us to realize we are wrong, to repent, and to come back. He knows what we are refusing to see....
He is the only one that can turn tragedy into triumph.
Right now
Jonathan cannot see how there can be any triumph in this. I can understand that. But I know that God wastes nothing. There will be a victory in all of this and God will receive the Glory. He didn’t want this for this child. But he can use it, and he will.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
The best that Satan can do is to get us to behave in a way that will keep OTHERS from knowing God. Or to make them stumble. Satan wants to use this too.
Please pray for Jonathan.
Please pray that he will turn to his Father for comfort and NOT to the things of this world -- Which only brings further destruction.
Please pray that God will give his father and me words of wisdom AND the wisdom to just be quiet and be there when we need to be.
Please pray that Jonathan will ♥ be still ♥ in God’s presence so that he can feel God’s comfort.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
God is still God.
He is still GREAT!
And He is still worthy of our Praise!
Thank you for your prayers.
