While the kids were still in town, we took them to the City Museum on June 15.
If you get a chance to visit this place, make it a point to do so. "'Where the imagination runs wild," is the slogan of the City Museum, and that is the truth. I've never seen anything like it. The man who created it is a genius. Bob Cassilly, an internationally acclaimed sculptor is the mastermind of this project. It is housed in the 600,000 square foot former International Shoe Company, and is an "eclectic mixture of playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects." Cassilly and his crew of 20 artisans utilize the city's old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction bridges, buses, planes, whatever they can find. I am awed by this man's creativity and entrepreneural abilities.
We had a terrific time exploring this vast wonderland, and I'm looking forward to returning.
Yesterday, Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), visited the City Museum. The young star is in town for a concert tonight at the Scottrade Center. She's quite popular, and there was a frenzy to get tickets to her concert. It sold out immediately.
I created a virtual media presentation from some of the pics I took that day. I hope you enjoy.
This last pic is of me crawling through on the wire tubes, suspended four stories above the ground. I figured if a six year old could do it, so could I. I almost didn't fit through it, and I definitely did not look down. This tube let to a four story slide, which was a blast shooting down. Not too bad for someone who doesn't like heights. The kids were proud of me, anyway...
(p.s. the date stamp is wrong on the pic...)
