Today I am in the heart of the famed hotel zone in Cancun. Beautiful beaches are the main attractions but there is so much more. This is a fun little area with a lot to do and see. And all within walking distance. There are two major shopping plazas. The first is Plaza Kukulcan. Here you will find Luxury Avenue, a huge store lavished with all designer brands. It is like a mall within a mall. And if you are hungry from all the shopping, stop by Ruth Chris steak house to recharge before embarking on another round of shopping.
The second mall in this area is La Isla. This mall has a relaxed feel. Great for shopping and is located on the lagoon side. If you need a break from shopping there is a movie theatre and an interactive aquarium for entertainment. La Isla is host to many delicious restaurants. Everything from Italian to Thai. There on the lagoon are several restaurants for dinning like Blu. This is a great place to get fish tacos, a glass of wine and watch the sunset on the lagoon. Finish with a nightcap at Madonna Martini Bar. Their menu boasts over a hundred martinis and great fondue to complete a romantic evening.
Right next to La Isla is an amazing residential area named Isla Dorada. Gated for privacy, it is right on Kukulcan Boulevard but is amazingly quiet. Isla Dorada is made up of 18 “islands” or neighborhoods with all the tranquility and charm of the county side. Tree lined streets and bridges that rise over waterways out to the lagoon. This is a great area for boating fans.
