I was in the shower and the electricity went out. Have a 5 hour battery and internet card- can't dry my hair, but can still work, blog and communicate. I think that's pretty cool!

Technology has come a long way...I remember when all I had was a pager and that was pre cell-phone.

Yes, and my first home is was a necessity to have a generator not a luxury. And look at where we are now.

Let's hear it for the UPS.  Never underestimate the need for a good battery backup for your computer and internet connection at your home office.  So many people forget these things and get left dead in the water when power failure strikes.  These days, don't forget your high tech phone system needs one too.  Consider getting a seperate supply for each system (computer and communications).  Also, UPS batteries tend to extend the life of the power supply in your computer (the box that distributes the power to all the components inside your computer) by preserving it from power fluctuations that happen throughout the day on any and every power grid. Kudos to you Terri!
