Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD) earns the Exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the second year in a row!

"With the implementation of new state accountability measures like Commended Performance and the English Language Learners Progress Indicator, earning an Exemplary rating this past year proved to be a much more rigorous challenge than ever before," said Ms. Bohn. "When parents, principals, teachers and support staff work together in the best interest of all students, the result is remarkable academic achievement that continues to define this district. The Exemplary rating is indicative of the superior instruction delivered in our classrooms. Our entire Lake Travis community should be very proud."

TEA conducts the annual ratings of Exemplary, Recognized, and Academically Acceptable based upon performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). There is ifferences between the 2010 and 2011 in the accountability systems which are...:

  • Commended Performance, added to the 2011 accountability system; campuses and districts are evaluated on the percent of students who score high enough on the TAKS Reading and Mathematics to achieve Commended Performance;
  • English Language Learners (ELL) Progress Indicator, added to the 2011 accountability system; campuses and districts are evaluated on the percent of current and monitored limited English proficient (LEP) students who meet the TAKS Reading/ELA standard or the criteria on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) reading component;
  • TAKS Modified and TAKS Alternate, applied for the first time; results on TAKS-M and TAKS-Alt assessments for special education students in all grades and subjects tested are included in determining the 2011 accountability ratings
  • Texas Projection Measure (TPM), discontinued for the 2011 accountability system; in 2009-2010.

Plan to phase out TAKS and the implement the state's newest standardized test called the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) which will occur during the coming school year.

The current LTISD district and campus ratings effective for 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years:
