When it comes to selling a home in Orange County, California, my prospective home sellers and I will discuss the level of motivation and the respective results at the time of listing the home for sale. Occasionally motivations change during the listing period, but most sellers know where they fit on this scale. I do not take listings with motivation levels 1-4. But if you are at at the 5-6 level, I am open to discuss your goals. If you are in the 7-10 scale, I am here to help you get where you want to go.

A very useful table. I feel an intense desire to push the suggest button on this one!

Russel: Push away! The chart was compiled with years of experiencing some seller's ambivalence about selling. The last deal I just closed was a 10 (seller's statement) and he truly meant it and followed all my instructions.

Sylvia ... I like that you talk with your clients about seller motivation and even ask for them to rate sellers and themselves on the chart. Very good idea, and I will think about that for our situations.

Harrison: I believe making the sellers rate their own motivation makes them think about it in more concrete terms.
