Indiana Association of REALTORS (IAR) has released their June Market Reports. According to their findings, when comparing June 2011 to June 2011
- The number of closed sales decreased 11.2 percent to 6,081;
- The median sale price of homes increased 1.4 percent to $119,900; and
- The number of pending sales increased 16.4 percent to 5,495.
I fewel it is important to remind consumers when reporting this market data to keep in mind that the Homebuyer Tax Credit was still in place through last September (originally was June deadline for closings but then got extended to September due to extensive backlog). When we compare this year over last, it is hard to compare apples to apples since we no longer have tax incentives for buyers.
The fact that pending sales increased, could be a positive indicator that consumer confidence is improving. Home builders are also reporting increased housing starts and that builder’s outlooks are improving.
Though most counties are still reporting decreases in sales this year over last, several counties in the greatIndianapolisarea are showing increases includingBartholomewCountyandHamiltonCounty.HendricksCountyis showing an even pace this year over last June in this category.
