I never saw a lot of point in Twitter until I found what a great gardening community there is there. I love to garden, but I don't have active contact with very many people in my area who also garden. Twitter connects me with gardeners all over the country, lets me share photos and advice and learn all sorts of things.
If you use Twitter, try the "chats" for gardening. All you have to do is search for a keyword with a hashtag (#) at the proper time. There are various apps that you can use on your computer or smartphone to make it easier if you like- just search tweet chat software.
I like #gardenchat (9 pm eastern on Mondays) and #seedchat (9pm eastern on Wednesdays). At those times there are a LOT of gardeners signed on. All of them put that hashtag/keyword in their posts, so that all can follow. The posts fly fast and furious sometimes, and it's fun to try and keep up, and to answer some of the posts or the questions posed by the moderators. There are chats for canning, for roses, all sorts of things.
If you like to garden, try it. You might really like it.
I'm @LeslieinPayson on Twitter.
