BEST Brazilian Steakhouse - San Antonio, Texas
I'm a Foodie, I love food. All kinds of food. I eat almost anything that is prepared well, with great texture and flavor. Add a little ambiance and I'm there, repeatedly!
As a steak lover and being Texan I
jump at the chance to visit Saltgrass Steakhouse or Texas Land and
Cattle. I don't frequent Morton's, Kirby's, or Ounce because I've eaten
there and just don't find it a comfortable place to hang, the prices are
too high (with respect to portions especially), and quite honestly,
while the "quality of the steak" might be better, the seasoning and
sides just don't compare with respect to price.
Enter Chama' Gaucha, the BEST Brazilian Steakhouse in San Antonio, Texas - period!
It's a little pricy for a family but is certainly worth the money and perfect for special occasions - such as my birthday - or if you want to impress someone - this is the place to eat!
I visited when it first opened and have since returned numerous times. I went back for my birthday this month. So I thought, what brings me back over and over again?
SERVICE - QUALITY - TASTE - VARIETY - UNIQUE FLAVORS - HEALTHY CHOICES
Lamb
chops (my favorite), Prime Rib, Rib-eye, Top Sirloin, Parmesan Crusted
Pork, Chicken wrapped in bacon, Lamb leg, Pork sausage, Pork ribs,
Bottom Round, just to name a few meat dishes.
Can't decide? No worries, it's a buffet! Not just a buffet, a GOURMET BUFFET. Handsomely dressed Brazilian Rancheros run, literally run around offering you a portion as they bring it off the flame that roasts these meats to perfection. The juices run down the sword tenderizing and flavoring the skewers.
It's lots of fun! Me and my husband play this little game. You have to flip your Chama card from red side to the green side to start the meat service. So when we are done with the salad we flip and count. So far we have maxed out at 10 seconds! For fun, we'll go red for awhile then when we see there are no servers around we flip to green and count, 10 seconds! Sometimes you'll hear a whistle; that's the manager getting you great service!
Yes, they have salad and sides. So backing up for a minute, when you arrive you are seated and offered to visit the salad bar.(Oh yes and they have a full bar too. The Mojitos are very excellent!)
Any restaurant can put out a decent salad bar with some fresh assortments but it takes a commitment to quality to add on a Parmesan Reggiano wheel for you to carve your own cheese, marinated Mozzarella, perfect sun-dried tomatoes, chilled roasted red and yellow peppers, apple salad, chilled asparagus, Genoa, and Prosciutto.
The sides include grilled bananas, mashed potatoes, polenta (only place I'll eat it). Recently they added black beans, rice, and salsas. Did I mention the Parmesan cheese rolls yet? I'd almost go there for those rolls alone; quite addictive!
If you visit San Antonio - this is a MUST EAT!
