Seriously???

Missy - For the past couple of days I've been getting these Spam comments too.  I don't like where non members can't make a comment but I guess I have to go back and change my settings allowing member only comments. 

I've gotten quite a bit also, and been reporting on the other posts. I think they get the daily drop and just dump them there.

Missy - Wow that's insane alright. I have been getting some of these but not that many. wow.

I have gotten several points lately for reporting them.  Unchecking the box allowing non-members to comment is a start.

I wondered where they went!  They hit us heavy last week, about 4000 points of reporting worth, but they've left us alone the last few days.

You are not alone. It is the worst run of spam I've seen since I've been here. I finally, like others, changed the setting to disallow non-member commenting...but we shouldn't have to do that. After all, don't we WANT non-members to comment too?

Missy.  For years, the comments on my blog posts from the public were inconsequencial.  Based on that, I closed comments to all but members. 

It stopped the spam. 

Wow Missy.  Thankfully, I've only had a few, maybe one or two in the last year.  My posts are open to public comments but it hasn't been a problem.  Maybe you can just temporarily turn off the public comments.

I don't allow outside comments so I don't see much spam coming through. That's my solution!

Not allowing non-member comments was the solution for me as well.

BTW, I DO get comments, questions, etc. from consumers who read my blog.  They simply go to my web page or go to the right hand sidebar and send mail through the system.

I'm not convinced that most consumers want to comment in public anyway.

Interesting...I have only had one or two!   LOL I am feeling a bit left out....NOT!!!

Missy - I don't allow non-member comments either.  However, I have seen several days with a lot of spam from the same one or two spammers.

I guess I should start reporting those suckers rather than deleting them.

Hi Missy, I have heard of several folks that are getting lots of spam, but I have only gotten one this week.  Wonder why some of you are getting more than your share all of a sudden?

☂ ouch, that is a lot Missy.  Someone knows you have good Google Juice and wants to hitch a ride.  I think a while back Bob recommended you not allow non-member comments (just saw where others already mentioned this)... Hope that helps!
