Good Lord!  Even the fish are dying from the heat!

Colleyville, Texas (Tarrant County) officials are blaming the unrelenting hot weather for dozens of dead fish, including catfish and bass, in Colleyville's Kimsey Park pond.

Temperatures have reached over 100 degrees for 24 consecutive days in a row in Dallas/Fort Worth.  Rafe Brock, a fishery management biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's DFW district says that these dead fish, died from a depletion of oxygen from the water due to the heat. "As the temperature increases, [water's] ability to hold oxygen decreases," he said. "We're getting surface temps close to 90 degrees..."  It was estimated that Grapevine Lake water temperature was 92 degrees this weekend, which is very close to Colleyville's Kimsey Park pond.
