I have to preface this by saying that I do not buy the slow market garbage that the mainstream media shovels out everyday! We are the market people! My business is going and growing GREAT! If a home is priced right and marketed well, it will sell!
That having been said, let me speak to an odd mentality that seems to be invading sellers in a certain situation, at least here in my local market. This phenomenon is based in sellers who have built a new home, but have been unable to sell their current home. I can not tell you how many times I have seen this in just the last few weeks. They actually list their new house and keep their current home on the market! This post was based on another I had made today in response to an agent who is having some difficulty selling her own home. It occured to me that people have become so resigned to the media hype about a slow market, they aren't thinking clearly! In the other post, someone suggested that the agent replace her homes windows with "soundproof" ones because her home is on a busy street. WHAT? Why would you put money into a house you are trying to get out of...assuming it is in reasonable condition to begin with. Cut the price and move on with your life!
So, my office has this handful of clients who now have two houses. Time for a REALITY CHECK people! Move into the new house! Drop the price on your old house! Get a good office and agent who know how to market homes in your area and move on with your life! You may sell your house for LESS than you paid for it! You WILL sell it for LESS than you THINK it is worth! You have lost nothing accept time! Get on with it already! Don't throw good money after bad! It's CRAZY!
