When deciding on repairs to undertake when getting your home ready for the market, consider this - kitches are a BIG deal to prospective buyers. If your kitchen is updated, that's great! If not, don't fret....here are some quick fixes to revitalize your kitchen.
- Update the counters. Replace the counters with fashionable granite, marble or stone.
- Breathe new life into the cabinets. A quick coat of paint and new knobs is the most inexpensive way to go. If you have a larger budget, hire a refacing company to replace the doors and drawer fronts.
- Refinish all the appliances. An appliance refinisher can re-enamel your stove, refrigerator and dishwasher relatively inexpensively. If you go this route, you have your choice of color including a stainless steel look-alike.
- Change your lighting. A new ceiling fixture or fan will brighten up the entire room. You can also add some under the cabinet lights to illuminate your work surfaces.
- Replace worn flooring. Install new laminate flooring over your old linoleum, vinyl or tile. It costs approximately $1 to $5 per square foot and can look like wood, stone or tile.
